Description
This software-architecture course starts with the business reasons behind a system: its goals, constraints, risks and competing priorities. It translates those inputs into architectural scenarios and quality requirements, then compares design choices in terms of scalability, security, maintainability, performance and cost.
The design work includes decomposing a system into domains, bounded contexts, components and interfaces. C4 diagrams and architecture decision records provide lightweight ways to explain the result. Feedback, trade-off analysis and review techniques are used to revisit decisions as the business context changes, with communication to both engineers and stakeholders treated as part of the architect's work.
Intended audience: Developers moving toward architecture, experienced engineers and technical leaders.
